Church Information and Message

  • Church Office Hours are Monday–Thursday, 10 AM–3 PM.
  • Service Times are Sunday School at 9 AM and Worship at 10 AM.
  • The featured message is "FEAR DOESN'T STOP US," which encourages the community to be led by hope and continue their journey, as fear will not have the last word.
  • The total collected for "March to the Manger" this year is $12,053.
  • The community is invited to keep their intention words in mind as they choose them for Epiphany Sunday on January 4th.

Theological Points on Star Words

The "Star Word" tradition makes several theological statements:

  • The practice moves us closer to Jesus by using available resources like creative prayer practices and intention words, similar to how the magi followed a star.
  • Star words are a tool to actively seek and reflect on God's presence, trusting that God uses multiple ways to speak and guide us.
  • Having an intention word allows us to see God in ways we may have previously missed.
  • The practice invites a prayer rhythm of reflection and review, connecting with God in a powerful new way.
  • By not looking at or sorting through the star words, the spiritual task of receiving is practiced, trusting God's presence and letting go of control.

January 2026 Events

  • January 4th: Epiphany Sunday; Parsonage Open House from 3:00–5:00 PM.
  • January 6th: United Women in Faith (formerly United Methodist Women) Meeting at 10:00 AM.
  • January 11th: Baptism of the Lord; Blood Drive from 11:45 AM–3:45 PM in the Fellowship Hall.
  • January 17th: United Methodist Men (UMM) Breakfast Meeting at 8:00 AM.
  • January 21st: OWLS Luncheon at 11:30 AM with Guest Speaker Andy Mitchel from Methodist Mountain Mission.

Other Notes

  • PCM needs canned soup & skillet meals, and vegetable soup.
  • The Mini Food Pantry stocking schedule for Jan 26–Feb 1 is Soul Sisters.
  • In the event of inclement weather, check Snowman 6 on WPSD or the Church Facebook page.
  • The Valentine's Fun Fest is scheduled for Feb. 14, 2026, from 2:00 PM–3:30 PM.
  • A list of birthdays, prayer requests for cancer patients, those who lost a loved one, and those serving in the military is also included.
